The blog is back

I prefer to remain in blissful ignorance of the opposition. That way I’m not frightened by anyone’s reputation. Ian Thompson

The last time I blogged it was the race report for the white peak marathon.
Job done, upwards & onwards to better faster times.

Or so I thought. Not worked out that way really. Races have come, races have gone without ever hitting the heights of April and May. No more PBs have come. Never realised how long it would take to recover from the marathon. 6 weeks it took to get back to any kind of running performance.

I have still ran good races, and a few bad ones too, but never hit the race pace of pre marathon. Trying to do 4 x-country races and 2 10Ks in 8 weeks didn’t help. From Sept I seemed to go backwards. Lack of overtraining, injury, illness and a lack of motivation have meant any serious training has been hampered. Never thought i would get sick of racing!

Anyway 2011 has now gone and lets give a big running welcome to (trumpets please)

2012

Year of the London Olympics and, according to the ancient Mayans, the year the world ends.

More importantly also the year me and my lovely wife have our first child. This is very exciting but it has meant when people ask what my running goals are for the year, all I can say is

“I don’t know”

Most unlike me. I am just going to keep running when I can, race when I can/am allowed and see how things are later in the year.

Sorry Mr van Commonee.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end; then stop. Lewis Carroll
