13week 6days till White Peak Marathon”People ask why I run. I say, “If you have to ask, you will never understand”. It is something only those select few know. Those who put themselves through pain, but know, deep down, how good it really feels.”
Thursday morning began with a 3.5mile Trail run with the dog Rusty made harder by wearing road shoes with no grip on muddy trails and up a long steep jennel before a slow descent to home. Good start to the day.
Thursday Day at work was First Aid training. Handy with the run planned that night at Hallamshire Harrier club night. The Dreaded evil that is the 1in4 run. The first undulating 3miles of the run out to oughtibridge is always done at a fairly quickish pace. then its up church street to wheel lane where the fun really starts. A 2mile stretch on a 1in4 incline to chesmoor bottom at the ‘top’ of the hill. then it is a slight descent along Delf road to Bradfield school and the steep fast descent down worrall road to the hillsborough clubhouse.
9.74miles in 1hr 17min.
Friday nights run was an easy paced 5mile recovery run from work to middlewood tram station. Felt a little tired after the run up mount oughtibridge on Thursday night. 5miles in 41min 13secs.
Saturday was another trail run with Rusty. Went out to underbank reservoir & along the north bank trail and back then along the dam wall, across the road and up & along Bramhall Lane trail. Remembered to wear trail shoes this time. good 5.76mile run in 51min 56secs. Rusty certainly enjoyed it.
Sunday was long run day. this week with some company. Haile off the RW sheffield social. I ran the 1.73miles down to his house then we both set off thru the quarry and into warncliffe woods. along the Trans pennine trail to oughtibridge tip and up to top of hill. Then thru the shooting club fields
and down to deepcar, past horse stables to meet Sheila and along trail to oxpring & back on the trail, along finkle street and then home. 16.75miles in a slow 3hr min but today was about time on feet not quick miles.
56.5miles this week and 103miles this month so far. Marathon Training going well.
